GEMSI is a fiscally sponsored nonprofit which has been supporting change makers and their communities world wide since 2011. Our first years were hallmarked by supporting the creation of hackerspaces around the world, with a focus on the Middle East. Five years later and with a new global community of friends, we are developing strategies which we hope will help us identify ways we can create positive personal transformation for our members and their communities.
GEMSI’s programming currently focuses on the following three questions:
- What can collaborative community spaces offer in practical terms for refugees in South Beirut?
- What happens when we focus on personal development as it relates to authentic social change?
- Can GEMSI become an enterprise which has it’s own funding mechanism that also supports our programming?
